DJ Wagner Winning “High School Player of The Year” 2023 Iverson Classic

On Monday afternoon, the Iverson Classic unveiled its roster for the upcoming 2023 event, which will take place in New Jersey at a date to be determined. Last year’s event ran from April 26-30.

The nods are no surprise, as all four soon-to-be Cats are considered top-10 recruits in the class, with Wagner, Edwards and Bradshaw all being named the No. 1 of the bunch at some point in time throughout the major recruiting services.

The Memphis-based Iverson Classic is yet to announce a date. Kentucky freshmen Cason Wallace and Chris Livingston were both selected to the roster a year ago. UK has had a signee take part in the event every year since 2017, the year it debuted.

“I couldn’t be more excited about this class,” Kentucky head coach John Calipari said of his 2023 class. “We have five talented and dynamic players who have the drive and commitment it takes to succeed at Kentucky.”

Four-star shooting guard Freddie Dilione was selected but will not participate as he’s already enrolled at Tennessee. Elijah Gertrude, a four-star combo guard out of Jersey City who signed with Virginia will also not participate due to an injury. A selection to replace Gertrude will be announced at a later date.

Duke and Kentucky will have the highest number of players representing in the event with four each. The Wildcats boast three of the top four players in the country according to the 2023 On3 Consensus in Edwards, Wagner Jr. and Bradshaw and Dillingham sits at No. 10.

Mgbako is the highest-ranked Duke signee in the event at No. 6 in the nation. Stewart is ranked as the No. 13 player in the coutnry while Foster is ranked No. 19 and Power is ranked No. 22.
