Best Duo in the NBA? Tatum & Brown Surpass Jordan & Pippen’s Record!

The Celtics have made a resurgence to the top of the Eastern Conference standings as we head into the new year. A major factor in that is the dynamic duo of Jaylen Brown and Jayson Tatum. These two have not only proven to be the best scoring duo in the NBA so far this season, but they’ve risen atop the leaderboards as one of the greatest offensive duos of ALL TIME.

Last week, the Jays (as many have grown to call them), combined for 66 points in a win over the Minnesota Timberwolves. Brown notched a game-high of 36 points while Tatum contributed 30! This marked the 17th time that the duo have scored 30+ points in the same game, pushing them past Michael Jordan and Scottie Pippen, and into third place for “Most 30-Point Games by a Teammate Tandem.” The amazing stat line was recorded into Elias Sports Bureau’s database – a database that dates back as far as 1985 for this particular stat.

Sure, Jordan and Pippen dominated in a completely different era of basketball, but having their names mentioned amongst the greats is an accomplishment.

Now, who wanted one of the Jay’s to be traded prior to the season’s start? Bet you’re regretting making that critical statement now, huh?
