We could never deny the power of music. Music is one of the most creative forms of self-expression, allowing artists to not only express a range of emotions and feelings but their perspectives on various issues.

Vic Mensa utilizes his new single, “SHELTER,” as a powerful musical tool to address critical issues we continue to face here in America, alone – racial injustice, over-criminalization and poverty in underserved communities.

Shelter is a spiritual note, a healing frequency. It was inspired not by Hollywood or Paris, but by what’s going on on the ground – in the real world, with the real people,” shared Mensa.

Mensa called on fellow Chicago native, Chance the Rapper, for the collaborative record. The two exchange captivating lines that touch on the wrongful police murders of Black Lives such as George Floyd and Breonna Taylor, and more.

Wyclef Jean also adds another impactful dimension to the record as he contributes to the record’s hook.

Recruiting Director, Andre Muir, “SHELTER” is paired with a heart-touching visual that doesn’t fall short of the true depiction of how the Black community was also impacted by this global pandemic. Watch below!
