Another beloved rivalry in the NBA played out last night in Boston at TD Garden.
The Boston Celtics took on the Philadelphia Sixers in an exciting game, given the two franchises’ history, and their playoff rivalry. Getting the start – with Horford & Rob out – Boston’s other big man, Blake Griffin, went to work early! Always providing his teammates with an endless supply of energy when he’s on the bench, Griffin brought his infectious energy onto the court.
He was unstoppable from the jump. Embiid didn’t have it easy. Griffin feasted on Philly’s defense early on, resulting in him getting open looks from the 3-point arc.
Swish. Three 3-pointers were made in the opening four minutes.
Griffin’s early barrage of threes led the Celtics to one of their most efficient 3-point shooting performances so far this season (54.3%). Malcolm Brogdon and Derrick White also provided the Celtics with depth and more offensive efficiency – both scoring 19 points. Grant, like Griffin, finished with 15 points. And Tatum chipped in 12 points along with eight rebounds and nine assists!
A total team effort, especially with key players out.
