How One Man Is Resurecting Philly’s Film & Music Industry

All over Philly Jimmy Dasaint is known as a hiphop legend and entrepreneur. After getting out of prison in 2009, he personally set out to put his hometown of Philadelphia on the hiphop map. Along with friends Plex, Sonya and Tiona, Jimmy started the Philly hip-hop awards. An award show that celebrates rising and legendary artist from the tri state music scene. The show is still going strong on its 12th year. In 2017, after the death of his younger brother Sean, Jimmy wrote ,directed and produced his first feature film THE TRAP (available on Tubi) .

Since releasing his debut film Jimmy has released seven more feature films  YOU ONLY LIVE ONCEBROKEN TRUST,  NOBODY’S SON, STICK UP BOY,  SATURDAY and the award winning film THE KARMA EFFECT. In each of his films Jimmy showcase an all Philly cast and soundtrack. Featuring actors and musicians from the tri state area.
So far he has put on over a thousand local actors and musicians and the number keeps going up. This summer Jimmy is set to release three more films A COMPLICATED AFFAIR, THE ULTIMATE HIGH and PHILLY DIVAS.
Jimmy is a man of high standards that’s dedicated to his craft, who’s determined to help the amazing talents from Philly succeed.
He is also the founder of the P.U.F.A awards. (Philly urban film awards) . A award show that celebrates the Philly film and music community.
He is definitely, “BRINGING HOLLYWOOD TO PHILLY”.
