Recap: Celtics vs. Lakers, Controversy in Boston

CDHQ’s own, Maria Myraine, was in Boston this past weekend to catch the Boston Celtics vs. Los Angeles Lakers game. One of the biggest rivalries in sports lived up to all of the hype.

The Lakers looked like they had a chance at taking a win in TD Garden, but a series of events occurred toward the final seconds of regulation. With the score tied at 105, James had a clean look at the basket as he drove the lane for a layup. At the same time, Tatum went in for the block, but seemingly hit Lebron’s arm, and forced a miss. No whistle though.

The officials would later report that there was, indeed, contact but the referees missed the play. In real-time, immediately after the no-call, Lebron threw a tantrum as a wave of “boos” could be heard from the Boston crowd. The Celtics dodged the L.

Brown hit some clutch free throws in the final seconds of regulation, to help send the game into overtime. Despite Lebrn’s 41 points, the Celtics got their sh*t together and rallied in OT to get the win in front of a sold-out home crowd.

For those debating the no-call, the NBA Last 2 Minute report showed that there were two other missed calls that favored the Lakers in the closing moments. It really could have gone either way. In the remaining seconds of regulation, one of those no-calls, was a missed offensive foul on Anthony Davis, with 32 seconds left, after officials determined Davis had pushed Brown into Schroeder. No whistle was blown.

It is what it is. Celtics get the win, and currently remain the top seed in the League.
