The 64th annual GRAMMY Awards will make its return to the Staples Center in LA next year! Officially announced, The Recording Academy has revealed a January 31st, 2022 date for music’s biggest night. Amid the COVID-19 safety concerns, this March’s date was bumped and the live show was eventually canceled due to the spike in cases – especially in California.
“We just didn’t feel it was responsible to try and hold the show under those conditions,” Harvey Mason Jr (CEO, Recording Academy) stated.”
While a live event did not occur, the 2021 GRAMMYS did carry on with a telecast – which didn’t get the high ratings that were expected. It was, overall, still generally well-received.
As the vaccines roll out, and hopes of a post-pandemic life that’s “normal,” anticipation for the 2022 award show is as high as the expectations.
