Lil Nas X’s highly controversial “Satan Shoes” that were inspired by his “MONTERO (Call Me By Your Name)” video landed the young artist a lawsuit – handed by NIKE themselves. The “Satan Shoes” that X has been boasting on social media are Nike Air Max 97’s contains red embroidery, 66 cc’s of red ink, a drop of human blood (yes! human blood!), with only 666 pairs sold at $1,018!
The sneakers also don the “Luke 10:18” text – the Bible verse that references Satan’s fall from Heaven.
Though they look official, and Lil Nas X has been promoting it heavily, these are NOT official NIKE sneakers and the company wants nothing to do with the association with Lil Nas X and his satanic sneakers.
MSCHF, the brand that Nas X collaborated with for these sneakers, apparently buys shoes from NIKE, and customizes them before selling them at a much higher price.
With its association with the devil, essentially, the sneaker received heavy backlash online. And that’s what set NIKE off.
