Lionsgate released the official trailer Mind cage, a stellar new crime thriller about two detectives on the hunt for a copycat serial killer. Star trio in the spotlight Martin Lawrence, Melissa Roxburghand Oscar nominee John Malkovich, the trailer shows their reluctant partnership to stop the killer from demanding more victims for his disturbing art. Along the way, the case becomes deeply personal for both detectives as they end up caught in both the web of the copycat and the web of the real killer.
The trailer starts on a twisted note when a priest notices a strange statue of an angel in his church, which turns out to be the serial killer’s latest twisted piece of art. When Jake Doyle (Lawrence) sees the angel, he is immediately haunted by a past case involving The Artist (Malkovich), a brilliant but troubled killer who turned his victims into his exhibits. Jake helped put him behind bars for good, but now he’s forced to fight his biggest fear, the wannabe. To find the killer, he teams up with Detective Mary Kelly (Roxburgh) and the two go to meet the original killer to find some lead. However, before they can begin, Jake reveals that the case is more personal than he initially thought, as the Artist also killed his previous partner.
Despite Jake’s desire to see the Artist pay for his crimes, Mary is unable to get anything from the killer without making a deal to commute his death sentence. Even when they meet his demands, he provides only dubious help. His madness is shown to the fullest when he speaks in riddles and religious imagery about his “art” and the art of imitator. He eventually turns this cat-and-mouse game into a race against the clock when he comes to the conclusion that Mary is the copycat’s next victim. When detectives discover that her entire life has been sprawled out on the walls of a killer, a disturbing reality sets in and an intense race begins to stop the psychopath and save Mary’s life.
