Summer is officially here, so you know what time it is. It’s time for some of the biggest summer festivals of the year. And of course, that includes Afropunk.
What Is Afropunk?
Afropunk is an annual Black festival that celebrates Black joy. It features music, art, and fashion from Black artists. The festival is a nod the many subcultures in the Black community. Every year, fans of alternative music, fashion, and lifestyles attend Afropunk to party with other likeminded individuals.
One of the best things about Afropunk festival is its incredible lineup of musical performances. This year, fans can expect to hear from artists like Tierra Whack, Burna Boy and The Roots. Not to mention, there are also plenty of other things to keep you entertained while you’re there, including food trucks and interactive games.
When And Where Is It?
Afropunk starts on the weekend of Saturday, September 10th to Sunday, September 11th. The 2-day fest is set every year in the summer so attendees can plan for the event in advance.
Afropunk festival kicks off at Commodore Barry Park in Brooklyn, New York. Commodore Barry Park is the oldest park in the Brooklyn borough. Because of this, it has a rich history and culture that you can feel. There, you can find basketball and handball courts, baseball and football fields, and even an outdoor pool. It’s the perfect place to relax and unwind after a full day at the festival.
