Just as the Brooklyn Nets were making their ascent in the Eastern Conference standings, their star forward, Kevin Durant, sustains yet another injury. An unfortunate circumstance, it was revealed that KD has an isolated MCL sprain in his right knee after undergoing an MRI. The Brooklyn Nets made the announcement this morning and said he would be re-evaluated in two weeks.
The injury occurred in the third quarter against the Miami Heat last night, which resulted in a 102-101 victory for the Nets. With just 1:05 left in the third quarter, Jimmy Butler was seen driving to the rim as Ben Simmons blocked him. On his way down, Butler fell back into KD’s knee. KD remained on the ground for a few moments after the collision but remained in the game despite the impact.
He was seen rubbing his knee as he maneuvered up and down the court, and was taken out of the game seconds later.
For KD, this is not his first knee injury, having injured his MCL in his left knee nearly a year ago. But the team is optimistic that this time around isn’t as severe as the last. How will the Nets hold up in his absence? We shall all wait and see.
