Yo! MTV Raps is back!
Paramount+ has officially released a trailer boasting the reboot of this iconic Hip Hop tv show! Hosted by battle rapper, Conceited and DJ Diamond Kuts, the show’s format consists of cyphers, original videos, tributes and performances. From the looks of the trailer, rappers like Freddie Gibbs, DaBaby, Latto, Saba and more, will be hitting the set.
Debuting in 1988, Yo! MTV Raps played a pivotal part in spotlighting Hip Hop on a mainstream network. The show was originally hosted by Fab 5 Freddy – with Dr. Dre, T Money and Ed Lover, taking on hosting roles later on as well. The show became one of MTV’s highest-rated programs, hosting some of the most legendary interviews – like the one with Tupac Shakur.
DYK: During the late 1990s, between 1996 and 1999, Yo! MTV Raps saw a new format in its second revival. After it went off=air, it came back for a limited time during MTV’s 20th anniversary in 2018.
