Knicks To Celebrate Historically Black Colleges & Universities During HBCU Night!

The New York Knicks, along with presenting partner Chase, will be celebrating Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) at Madison Square Garden this month! Against the Atlanta Hawks at Madison Square Garden, the Knicks will come together with students and alumni from various HBCU’s throughout the evening, paying homage to these institutions. The celebration is part of MSG Sports’ commitment to HBCU’s and their students.

MSG Entertainment’s Chief Diversity Officer, Demetrius Thornton, is a Morehouse College alum who will moderate a panel during the pre-game networking event inside the Hulu Theater at MSG. Thornton will join Knicks Legend, Earl Monroe and other special guests.

The partnership with Chase is just as pivotal, as the Knicks and the financial institution giant will be presenting an HBCU student with a $25,000 scholarship later in the evening during an on-court ceremony.

Funding high education for students of color was always part of MSG Sports’ legacy. Over the years, the iconic company has provided several college scholarships for HBCU students at Howard University, Lincoln University and Clark Atlanta University. After the pre-game, plenty of in-game entertainment will also highlight HBCU’s and their students with special performances, video and more.

As an active participant of the NBS’s HBCU Fellowship Program, MSG Sports, continues to provide career development opportunities for undergraduate and graduate students from HBCU’s. Overall, the mission remains and continues to thrive. Don’t miss the special evening on March 22nd!
