Kelsi Marie is an alumni of Warren Central High in Indianapolis, Indiana and it is through that life event she crossed paths with ace Indy hip-hop artist Skypp. In her love for music she has sung in choirs in school and church. It was a video of her singing Etta James “At Last” that caught the attention of music industry veteran Sid “Uncle Jamz” Johnson after she was recommended by Skypp.
Kelsi Marie’s debut single with MECAP Music was “I Just Can’t” which featured saxophone work from Indy’s own Bryan Thompson (called B. Thompson nowadays) and guitarist Reggie Griffin (who has worked with Babyface, Chaka Khan and The Isley Brothers to name a few). She followed that up with the pop-tinged “Shine Your Light”.
Kelsi Marie’s third single was “Bringing The Truth”, which caught the attention of the Philadelphia market. Due to her deep feelings of racial equality for all people, she wrote the very thought evoking “Freedom” , which like all of her recordings was accompanied by a music video, albeit this one was very poignant with its powerful message. She followed that up with the single “Underestimated”
Kelsi Marie returned with “Empowered” which features saxophonist B. Thompson who has played with Toni Braxton, H.E.R., Tank, T.I. and Faith Evans. A lover of r&b music, when not doing music she is a professional make up artist. She appeared on WISH TV Channel 8 this past Spring and as has performed on several shows with labelmate Damon Karl, and has opend for Indy favorite Andrew Young on a few occasions.
