American Idol 2004 winner, Fantasia Barrino Taylor shared a testimonial video on instagram of the surprising news, that she has received the role of Celie who was made famous by Whoopi Goldberg in ‘The Color Purple’ the musical movie. Mrs. Taylor had played Celie in 2007 broadway play.
Oprah Winfrey; talk show host, tv producer, actor, & among other professional roles will turn the classic movie into another classic when she turns the film into a musical movie. Fantasia, among other singers & actors Halle Bailey, H.E.R., Taraji Henson, Colman Domingo, Danielle Brooks, and Corey Hawkins will be in this film. This movie is set to premiere December 2023!
For Fantasia this is a dream role. The Grammy and Billboard singer last album was in 2019 Sketchbook which featured artist T-Pain. Fantasia is remembered for her remarkable soulful voice in her classic songs; Truth Is, When I See You, Ain’t Gon’ Beg You, Lose To Win, Bittersweet, & I Believe.
