Events are making a comeback this year as COVID-19 restrictions are lifted and vaccinations are up! In 2019, Culture District HQ’s, Maria Myraine, was able to cover New York Comic Con at the Javits Center in New York City. Nearly two years later, it’s exciting to hear that NYCC is returning this Fall.
If you’re still not hip, New York Comic Con (NYCC) is the largest pop culture convention on the East Coast. And what better place than New York City to host it, annually? The only place that is deemed the “comic book, publishing, media and licensing capital of the world.” Dedicated fans of anime, comic books, mangas, video games, and more gather for the four-day-long event in their best cosplay outfits!
“The intersection of Hip Hop and comic books is undeniable.
Rappers have been reference comic book storylines and characters since the early years of Hip Hop. A few years ago, even XXL Magazine created a “20 Hip Hop Songs Featuring The Best Comic Book References.” Popular lifestyle blog, Highsnobiety, also released their “10 Best Marvel References in Hip Hop” list among others (HotNewHipHop).” – Maria Myraine
Each day at NYCC is filled with industry panels, exhibits, interactive activities, vendors and more. You literally need all four days to explore all of what NYCC offers!
